Finally! After a long wait, the 2022 World Cup has officially opened. Prior to the kickoff of the inaugural match at Al Bayt Stadium between hosts Qatar against Ecuador, a charming ceremonial opening took place first.
The opening ceremony was enlivened by several performers. Beginning with theatrical singing and dancing with Arabic nuances. Then there is the recitation of the holy verses of Al Quran Surah Al Hujarat verse 13 by Ghanim Al Muftah.
In addition there is also playback soundtrack world cup from 1998 to 2022. Then there was a phenomenal performance from BTS personnel Jeon Jungkook who performed the 2022 World Cup theme song entitled Dreamers.
The opening match was interesting. The two countries fielded their best teams, Qatar with a 3-5-2 formation with Almoez Ali as the spearhead, while Ecuador with its classic 4-4-2.
Since the long whistle sounded, Ecuador has kicked off Qatar's defense many times. Evidently in the third minute there was chaos in front of goal. Enner Valencia, the captain managed to gore the ball into the goal after taking advantage of an acrobatic kick.
However, the goal was disallowed by VAR (Video Assistants Referee) as a result of one of the Qatar players considered off side.
It didn't take Ecuador long to open its goal tap. In the 15th minute Enner was violated by Qatar goalkeeper Al Sheeb in the penalty box. As a result, the goalkeeper got a yellow card and Ecuador was awarded a penalty.
Enner the executioner did not waste his chance to become the first goal scorer at the 2022 World Cup. Coolly, he managed to beat Al Sheeb to make a temporary 0-1 advantage for Ecuador.
After 15 minutes, Ecuador managed to double their advantage. Again Enner became the scorer. Receiving a cross from Caciedo, Enner fiercely headed the ball into the corner of the opponent's goal.
Until halftime, no additional goals were created. Meanwhile, in the second half, the game tends to be boring.
For the first time in the history of the World Cup, Qatar became the first host to lose in the opening party of the world cup. Of course this opens a good record for the host. This record ended his 92 year old record.
